Sloooooooow. Progressions.

I'm always amazed at how quickly flares appear and how endlessly long it takes them to be soothed away by heavy medication. Still feeling on toppa the world, though, and down to 5 mg of pred, the final taper - although watching the last presidential debate gave me a couple of sympathetic ulcers. Might have to abstain from media on the whole until the election is over.

In other news, my buttons arrived. Now if I can only summon the courage to wear them.

Yep, I do.

Good luck to you getting your health insurance!

Thanks, Bernie. Thanks for nothing, other Dem senators. And all of you who weren't there? What are you doing? Taking meetings with your constituents? Hmmm.

See/listen to the whole thing on C-SPAN here. I dub this awesome; a far cry from cookie recipe BS, no?

In other news, I'm ecstatic to get back for the holidays:

Look all that wonderful snow! Er, hi, Metrodome. Sorry about that.

Just another sticker on the road.

Let's talk prominent local bumper stickers! I see a lot of these. Sometimes they have an exclamation point. (Secede YAY! is how I read those ones.) Pre-November 2nd, I also saw a lot of these.

Today on my way back from my doctor's appointment, I saw one that said:

SOMEWHERE IN KENYA A VILLAGE IS MISSING THEIR IDIOT

with a little Obama sunrise emblem serving as the O in idiot. Isn't that charming and clever? It's a play on the Bush one (and probably ones long before that; I bet that there used to be wood engravings of this phrase printed on broadsides regarding John Adams' attempt for the presidency) I saw so much of after the 2000 election, except they can specify Kenya, because GET IT, he's not really a citizen, OMG! The idiot thing is, of course, kind of hilarious to me.

Unfortunately I can say that we suffer from no such shortage here. Maybe someday we'll get lucky, or I'll move. Yeah, I think I'll go with option two.

More election day, and some nerdiness

Posted just about everywhere already, but I'll repost anyway:

Not listening or allowing for the possibility of sense in another opinion: an annoying trait of anyone regardless of their political views. I'm excited to vote today - hope you are, too. Get out there and do it!

In other (nerdy) news, I recently discovered that something Flabbergastingly Kick-Ass happened in Texas. Naturally, since I'm not very fond of Texas (it's 90 percent climate-based bias, folks, so before you get your panties in a twist and flame me with WHY DON'T YOU GO BACK TO WHEREVER YOU CAME FROM IF IT'S SO GREAT OR MAYBE JUST GO TO HELL INSTEAD, just remember: I will remove my negative influence from your sphere as soon as I can hightail it back up to snow and negative wind chills. Which I will then bitch about in turn. YES. *beats bullshit drum*) I was very cheered by this news. Look how cool the Texas Supreme Court is, guys: they cited SPOCK.

Star Trek Cited by Texas Supreme Court

I love how whoever authored the opinion could have just left it at "Dickensian" but no; they chose to go that extra Trek mile. Live long and prosper, your Honors.

In case you were interested, CBS pulled the full eps off Youtube. Jerks.

Election day!

Way to go, Wikipedia - these pics on the Texas 2010 elections page are hilarious:
Flattering, right?

Bill White probably isn't going to win. Texas doesn't have a senate race in 2010, and I have to do a little research on reps up for office. Senator-wise, I did get some interesting mail from Kay Bailey Hutchinson and "Big" John Cornyn when I sent them a CCFA form letter regarding the restoration of federal funding for the CDC's IBD program.

In my response to my form letter, I received two. That's fair. Hutchinson's was pretty bipartisan and discussed some IBD-related bills currently being debated. Cornyn's reply, when read aloud, sounded like my gastro's answering service.

Heh. It's the legislative version of: If you need immediate assistance, please hang up and dial 911!
