I may have said before that I'm grossed out by food that masquerades as other food, especially when it's something savory pretending to be something sweet. E.G.: if you sculpted a candy bar out of bacon, I'd probably throw up despite the fact I love bacon and candy bars and sometimes I eat them combined. It's the betrayal of my brain and mouth's expectations that gets me. SORBET! SWEET! my brain says upon seeing a pile of smooth orange glop in a dish. GODDAMN IT, YAMS, my mouth replies upon taking the first bite.
So naturally I find this kind of repulsive:
Cake! OR IS IT?
I love all these ingredients, but my mouth was ready for frosting and sugar, sugar, sugar. Stupid mouth. Stupid turkey.
Oh. The sheer horror! Even the name sounds completely obscene. Turkey cake??!
ReplyDeleteI know I'm still reeling. Clearly it's the product of a twisted mind! :)
