Today I did the unthinkable. I went to Barnes and Noble, and I bought a new, freshly released, never-before-owned copy of Glamour in Glass by Mary Robinette Kowal. I wanted it largely on the basis of Shades of Milk and Honey*, which I read last year and adored, and if you like Jane Austen/Regency-style restrained-yet-passionate romances sprinkled with fantasy and none of that zombie nonsense, you'll love it. Of course, it's a well-written book. So if you like those, I highly recommend it.
As evidenced above, normally I don't go out and buy new books. But I had a particular reason for buying this one, and Ms Kowal explains it herself here, with an enjoyable little quiz:

I can't review it fully yet as I've only had it for four hours, and amidst all the dinner-eating, dog-walking, dog-washing, dog-drying, and after dinner beer drinking, I've had the time to read one chapter only. And it was great.
In summary I say, pick it up!
*Which also has a much better cover, in my opinion. GiG's is pretty, but I don't like the model version of Jane. Eh, whatever, book > cover, yeah, yeah.
