The few extra pounds are on my ass (mostly from my birthday dinner and a bag of salt water taffy) and in a bag (one filled with even more salt water taffy for the parents) but it was so, so worth it. An excellent, excellent trip, truth be told. I also managed to make it through the thing without missing pills or having a vacation flare. Thus the birthday dinner was a success. We ate at Suppenküche.
I won't go on with a ton of details because I'm not a super food critic - just a picky UC gal. (Also I'm sleepy from uploading roughly nine million pictures from my camera and, you know, working all day, so the SF gush will have to wait.) Suffice to say the whole trip was wonderful, and the b-day dinner surpassed my expectations. I had a fantastic dark beer and the spätzle:
